OKAYAMA Prefecture is hosting its first online seminar
in English for those considering relocation.

Blessed with the beauty of the sea and the mountains, and with fewer natural disasters and great access to cities
all across Japan, OKAYAMA offers both rich natural environment and convenience of life.
In this seminar, relocation advisors of WAKE, a small town in OKAYAMA, will introduce the lives of people who have
moved there from abroad.
In addition, a guest who relocated to WAKE from the United Kingdom will share his experiences of living in the town.

Guest Introduction

Guest: Mr. Jack Charles Toner Jack is originally from the United Kingdom.
He has loved Japanese culture since child-hood, and after studying Japanese at SOAS University of London,
he moved to WAKE in 2019 as an English teacher.
He actively takes part in local community activities and values the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the town.
Looking ahead, he hopes to continue living in WAKE together with his wife,who is also from the UK.

Where is WAKE Town?

WAKE is located in the southeast of OKAYAMA and endowed with nature.
Just 30 minutes by train from OKAYAMA Station, WAKE offers near-100%
coverage of sewer systems and fiber-optic internet, making it an easy and
comfortable choice even for those new to rural living.
The area is rich in outdoor activities, including hiking and cycling.
Experienced relocation advisors will personally show you around the town by car.

Jackさんはイギリス出身。幼少期から日本文化が大好きで、ロンドン大学東洋アフリカ
学院で日本語を学んだ後、2019年に英語教師として和気町に移り住みました。
地域の活動にも積極的に参加し、コミュニティの温かい雰囲気を大切にしています。
イギリス人の妻とともに、今後も和気町で暮らし続けたいと考えています。
